“Just for the record darling, not all positive changes feel positive in the beginning…”
My friend posted a quote card the other day that said, “Just for the record darling, not all positive changes feel positive in the beginning…”
And not two hours before reading that, I was having a conversation and I think my exact words were, “I’m not sure I want to keep doing all of this work on myself. I’m really not having fun..”
Personal growth, self development, whatever buzzword we’re calling it right now, it’s not always rainbows and butterflies and it’s easy to forget that sometimes. I think I’ve personally spent the better part of a year getting my ass kicked by how confronting and intense it can be yet I’m always finding new ways to go back for more because even when I find it a little irritating, stopping isn’t an option. And yet either is forcing it anymore.
I think the real lesson here is learning how to live in the middle. In the gray. In navigating and rerouting without getting annoyed with the GPS. And in not always knowing the exact direction but in appreciating the ride and in trusting that all is always well no matter where we are in the process.
